In 2008, CWSL expanded its post-graduate program in the rule of law with the University of Heidelberg, the Max Planck Institute in Comparative Public Law and international Law, and the Universidad de Chile to Paraguay.
Over half a dozen CWSL professors have participated in programs there. This year, Professors James Cooper, Justin Brooks and Tim Casey all participated in an international post-graduate program with the Centro de Derecho, Política, y Economía (CEDEP) during the last quarter of 2012.
The California Western professors all lectured on their respective areas of expertise - Cooper on Intellectual Property, Brooks on criminal law, and Casey on national security and civil liberties. Lawyers from Paraguay's Senate and Congress are participants in this year's program.
Past instructors from CWSL in Paraguay programs include Professors Tom Barton, Scott Ehrlick, and Floralynn Einesman.
From December 3 to 7, 2012, the post-graduate program moved to the Heidelberg Center for Latin America in Santiago de Chile with lectures from CEDEP's Professor Carlos Ruffinelli and other instructors. Professor Rufinelli visited CWSL in February and March 2012 and was an instructor in CWSL's Chile Summer Program.
Another post-grad program is planned for Paraná, Argentina in April of 2013 at the Universidad Católica de Argentina and will feature Professor Ken Klein and Roberta Thyfault.
